An End-of-Harvest Review

An update on the 2023 vintage from Tim & Denise

This harvest has been the cherry on top of our 2023 cake. After a fantastic summer watching this fruit ripen, visiting with y'all in Minnesota, and moving wine tastings to our new location in Carlton, it's sweet to see the gorgeous grapes come into the winery ready to be made into our best wines.

We are so happy with the quality of the fruit that arrived at the winery. Cluster size was small, berry size was small, the aromatics are stunning. The fruit from Björnson Vineyard is some of the best we've ever seen. It smells like a candy store when we’re doing punchdowns…really dark cherry.

A lot of winemakers picked the majority of their fruit before the rain and we opted to wait until after the rain for more concentrated flavor to develop and the brix (sugar content) of the grapes reached the ideal levels. Our patience totally paid off and the quality of this vintage is very high!

Denise is loving the rosé fermentation this year. It's lovely and pink! Tim is thrilled with the content of the fermenters. We can't wait to share the finished 2023 wines with you when they're ready for bottle.

Wishing you all a happy harvest season!
